Sand Patch Equipment

Sand Patch Equipment is used to measure the macrotexture depth of pavement surfaces and airfield surfaces according to a volumetric method. A known volume of sand is spread on the road surface to fill irregularities, enabling calculation of the surface structure and grip. This test method is essential for quality control of road and airfield pavements.

The equipment is supplied as a complete test kit with all necessary components to perform the measurements.

Included Components

The Sand Patch Equipment kit contains the following components:

• Spreader disc with handle and rubber-coated surface
• Wind shield
• Soft brush and wire brush
• Screw-adjusted compass (300 mm graduated)
• Metallic cylinder for volume measurement
• Two glass pycnometers with metallic screw top and pouring hole
• Three graduated cylinders (10, 25 and 50 ml capacity)
• Knee guard
• Carrying case

The following test materials can be ordered separately for use with Sand Patch Equipment:

• B099-15 — Glass beads according to EN 13036-1,  5kg package
• B099-16 — Natural sand 300/150 according to ASTM D965
• B099-17 — Natural sand 150/75 according to ASTM D965
