The penetrometer consists of a rigid steel frame with base plate and level gauge that ensures stable and correct positioning during testing. A movable penetrometer arm with automatic plunger release controlled by a multifunctional timer enables reproducible release of the penetration needle for consistent test results.
The timer has a range from 0.1 seconds to 99.99 hours for precise control of test time. To facilitate positioning of the penetration needle on the sample, the system is equipped with a halogen lamp and magnifying glass, both with movable arms for optimal visibility and positioning.
Penetration depth is measured with an analog dial gauge (30 × 0.01 mm). The system is supplied complete with a plunger of 97.5 g. An alternative plunger of 47.5 g is available as an option (article number 20-2080E30) for different test conditions and specification requirements.
The apparatus is suitable for routine quality control and laboratory testing of bituminous binders in the road and asphalt industry. Penetration needles and other accessories are ordered separately.
