CM-meter

The CM meter is a fast and reliable instrument for determining the moisture content of soil, sand, gravel and other granular materials directly on site — without the need for a laboratory or drying oven. The method is based on a chemical reaction between calcium carbide and the free water in the sample, which generates acetylene gas. The gas pressure produced is directly proportional to the moisture content and can be read directly on the meter’s pressure gauge.

Thanks to its compact design and ease of use, the CM meter is an invaluable tool for fieldwork, quality control and material testing on construction sites. Results are obtained within minutes and correlate well with laboratory results according to standard methods.
